ARF Chief Research Officer Joel Rubinson announced the research revolution last August in a blog post titled Transforming Research: Are You Listening? In the 5 months since the only visible signs of progress are 3 more blog posts containing mentions of "transformation" ... so I can't help but ask, Joel: Are You Doing Anything More Than Talking About It?

To be fair, the job of the ARF is to talk. And Joel is doing a lot of it. With influential people on agency and client side that can change things. The Re:think events in San Franscisco and NY are bringing together these people whith behavioural economists, neuroscietists and social scientists to understand how to fix the problems the industry is facing.
I am not shilling for the ARF (I am not a member) ...although I know Joel. But I think what they are doing is beneficial to MR.
Joel is saying a lot of the right things. That's actually why I mentioned it. In my own unique way I'm trying to encourage him to keep doing it, and to do even more.

I've also noticed the ARF's lack of visible progress, but I've found a resource that seems to be making some inroads on the issue: MR industry trade publisher RFL Communications put out a free data quality guidebook that provides corporate-side researchers with some good questions and metrics to gauge the quality of what they're receiving.

@Worried - your comment smells of astroturfing.
Don't get me wrong; if you do work for RFL and are proud of what the company is doing I think it's great that you want to spread the word ... but you have to be transparent about it.
BTW. I went to the RFL site and the song and dance one has to do to get a copy of the PDF was too much hassle. Do you really need my company, title, and phone number unless the PDF is just bait so you can interrupt me with sales calls later?
Less hassle = more downloads. More downloads = idea spreads. Ideas that spread, win.
I would love to read the report. You can forward a copy to: emailmrheretic (at) gmail.com
