You Killed Market Research

You killed market research when you didn't stand up to your client's self-destructive demands.

You killed market research when you promoted your friend instead of the best person for the job.

You killed market research when you treated respondents like lab rats.

You killed market research when you mistook information for understanding.

You killed market research when you confused profit with success.

You killed market research when you defended the status quo.

You killed market research when you abandoned common sense for self-preservation.

You killed market research when you didn't accept inconvenient truths.

You killed market research when you sought safety in the herd.

You killed market research when you allowed the voice above you to drown out the voice inside you.

MR Heretic,

Just noticed this blog post and it's almost a perfect NGMR meme.

http://www.tomhcanderson.com/2010/06/07/the-market-research-industry’s-first-internet-meme-competition/

Slight modification to the picture and it would be ready to go. Though to be eligible for the prize I would need to know your identity ;)

While I hope you will personally participate in the new NGMR meme contest, either way I also hope we will get your blessing and that you will help spread the word.

This post struck a perfect chord. It says a great deal about what has taken root -- and continues to grow -- not only in market research, but in business practices generally.
